Dili. spektrumnasional.com || TradeInvest Timor-Leste, I.P., through its Export Promotion Directorate (EPD), organised a workshop entitled “Understanding China's Import Requirements and GACC Registration for Timorese Exporters” at the Maubara Room, Timor Plaza, Dili. (28/07/2026)

The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge and capacity of business operators, exporters, importers, and other relevant stakeholders regarding opportunities to access the Chinese market. Through this initiative, participants received comprehensive information on China's import regulations, the registration process with the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), and the procedures that exporters must comply with to export products to China.

The workshop also provided information on opportunities to import equipment from China and featured presentations on logistics services and maritime transportation between Timor-Leste and China. These services are expected to facilitate the movement of goods, improve trade connectivity, and contribute to reducing trade costs between the two countries.

The event was officially opened by the Deputy Executive Director of TradeInvest Timor-Leste, Mr Roberto Lai. In his opening remarks, he emphasised that the workshop serves as an important platform for sharing practical knowledge with current and aspiring Timorese exporters on the requirements and procedures for accessing the Chinese market.

Mr Lai noted that a thorough understanding of China's import requirements and the GACC registration process would enable businesses to better prepare themselves to meet the necessary standards and successfully access one of the world's largest markets.

He further highlighted that the technical presentations and practical demonstrations delivered during the workshop would strengthen participants' understanding of export procedures, creating greater opportunities for Timor-Leste's products to enter international markets while strengthening business linkages between Timorese entrepreneurs and global trading partners.

Mr Lai also reaffirmed that, despite operating with limited resources, TradeInvest Timor-Leste remains firmly committed to identifying new opportunities and practical solutions for the private sector. The institution will continue to facilitate access to market information, international business networks, and strategic partnerships to support the growth of Timor-Leste's export sector.

The workshop brought together representatives from government institutions, development partners, and potential exporters from various sectors, demonstrating a strong commitment to strengthening export capacity and capitalising on the growing trade opportunities between Timor-Leste and China.
